Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association and Organization for Artificial Reefs Deploy New Reef

February 7, 2007

On February 7, 2007 OAR and MBARA deployed OAR Big Bend Saltwater Classic Reef in the Gulf of Mexico offshore of Mexico Beach, Florida. This reef consisted of a total of 25 giant ReefMaker Florida Limestone reef modules all dropped in one spot, Panama City Permit B Area.

These reefs, purchased with proceeds from the Big Bend Saltwater Classic fishing tournament, will increase recreational opportunities for both fishermen and divers.

Six of the new reefs are located approximately 32 nautical miles to the south of the Mexico Beach in 140 feet of water. The exact coordinates of these reefs will be published as soon as they become available.
